Giglio, Capraia and Pianosa
The Giglio, Capraia and Pianosa islands are three of the seven islands that make up the Tuscan Archipelago National Park.
They are characterized by very lush vegetation, almost pristine in some areas, with steep cliffs overlooking the sea and deep blue waters.

The seabed of Pianosa Island represents the pure essence of nature, never really disturbed by humans. So does the Giglio Island, renowned for its marvelous marine environment, with various species of animals including sperm whales, fin whales and dolphins, to be admired in the warmer months. Capraia Island is the only one of volcanic origin, the "wildest" with just over 300 inhabitants and many sites of historical interest.
Porto Azzurro and Portoferraio
Porto Azzurro and Portoferraio are two historic villages on Elba Island with thousands of years of history. Their golden beaches are among the most beautiful in the world, with crystal-clear waters full of wonders that are particularly appealing to scuba divers for their splendid seabed.

In Porto Azzurro, the best equipped port on Elba, there are many quaint restaurants on stilts where you can enjoy traditional specialties. In this fishing village you can visit the 1602 Fort of San Giacomo. In Portoferraio, on the other hand, you will be fascinated by the history of the many different peoples who have been here, thanks to castles and towers from Etruscan times, Roman and Napoleonic villas.
Art and history
The Island of Elba has a wealth of stories to be told and experienced firsthand by visiting its various museums and archaeological sites.
From the Ginevro Mine, where Europe's largest magnetite mine is located, to the Archaeological Museum in Portoferraio with very ancient artifacts.

From the Palazzina dei Mulini, Napoleon's former official residence when he was exiled to the island, to the Pisan Fortress, Elba's historic landmark with a walkway from which to admire the most beautiful views of the azure gulf. To the Museo del Mare (Sea Museum), where precious jewels, gems and ancient coins found at the bottom of the sea are preserved: a treasure that had been lost during the shipwreck of a French vessel around 1840.

Is there bad weather?
Visit the Fortress of Volterraio
To immerse yourself in the atmosphere of ancient medieval battles, on the top of the hillock of Portoferraio stands the Fortress (or Castle) of Volterraio, which towers over the town to the east, and is also visible from all over the island. You can enjoy the view of all the Elba Island that enchants like the fairy tales of old: the views from the nearly 400-meter high hill on which it stands are extraordinary. An impregnable fortress, it can be reached via a path and overlooks rocky walls of red jasper, barely covered by vegetation. We recommend visiting it at sunset: you will not regret it!
